An Assortment of Links that I Wish to Share!
A work in progress. Links may come and go. I'm fully aware of how disgusting this part of the website looks. Layout will hopefully change in the future to not be just walls of text.
Sites!
- 11foot8.com - documentation of oversize trucks attempting to pass under a low bridge in Durham, North Carolina. They also have a youtube channel
- Hobonichi MOTHER Project - an OFFICIAL MOTHER merchandise store that I don't see too many MOTHER fans talking about (unless I'm out of the loop...) It's extremely expensive, especially if you're outside of Japan, but it's nice to admire from afar at least...
- Homestar Runner - classic flash animation. Just assume that Back to a Website is on loop in my brain whenever I'm working on KOLME.
- Humongous Entertainment circa 1998 - this is just a personal thing that I don't think anybody else will get, but using the Wayback Machine on this particular website always pulls on my heartstrings. Especially looking through the People of the Week and Gallery, imagining a fun studio of creatives pioneering in children's CDROM games, in a building that's now a strip mall. This site also has sound files and wallpapers and stuff.
- The Spriters Resource - literally in the name, a resource for sprites. Any starfy gifs you may see lying around my site are either the ones ripped by redblueyellow or Deathbringer. (This is a subsection of a site full of other game resources, including sound effects and models, but I use sprites the most.)
- knitty - a website dedicated to knitting, created in 2002, and still being updated today with seasonal issues. I would love to own a physical magazine of these.
- Sudomemo - Flipnote Hatena revival. This doubles as a software recommendation if you have a hacked 3DS, but animations are visible though the website so I'll include it here.
Youtube
- GIFGAS - (usually) European trainhopping. Sadly, most videos, including all of my favorites, have been removed. These are archived, but for ease of access it kind of sucks.
- Curator/Music of Humongous Entertainment Project - behind the scenes videos on Humongous Entertainment, mostly revolving around sound.
- Michael Hickox Films - Lego stop motion that you've likely seen before. These got me really into stop motion when I was younger, and always cheer me up when I'm down.
Software!
- Aseprite - an art program that I use for most of my pixel art, like the navigation buttons you see to the left. The source code is free as well, or you can buy it to support them for $20USD.
- NAPS2 - free software for printing, PDF editing, and scanning. This single application has been one million times more useful than Adobe Acrobat or my own printer's app.
- IMGBurn - free ISO converting, DVD/CD/Blu-Ray playing and writing, et cetera.
- DVD Styler - extremely fun application to use. Free software that you can use to make menu screens and the like for DVDs.
